How To Discover Your Business Brand

We all know branding is important. With so much competition, especially within the digital space, it has become even more crucial to differentiate yourself.

Branding holds value, and often when companies are bought out the buyer is paying for the brand - not the products or services themselves. Brand image is everything and it's important to put thought into creating your brand. As our businesses grow, we get a clearer idea of how to create an emotional connection with our target market. Our brands evolve over time, and re-branding or refreshing your brand may be desirable.

Discovering your brand is a process that requires vision, creativity and strategy. It can help to ask yourself some questions to gain some insight of which direction you want to go. Silence your mind, ask these questions and see if any ideas pop into your head. Then apply logic to any answers that come up.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Who is my ideal customer and what is my target market?

  • How do I connect emotionally with my ideal client?

  • What feelings do you want to evoke when you and others think of your brand?

  • Which words does my target audience respond to?

  • What do I want my brand to be known for?

  • What Business Name speaks to me and my target market?

  • What elements do I want in my logo and what does it mean to me and others?

  • Which colours and fonts appeal to my target market and what are the meaning behind those choices?

  • What type of reputation do you want to build as you deliver your product or service?

  • How will you create brand loyalty?

  • How do you differentiate yourself from the competition?

  • What about your product or service is unique?

  • Do you want to be known as a luxury brand or a brand that offers products or services at the lowest price?

There is a lot that goes into branding. It is more than your business name, logo, fonts, and how you price your product or service. Your customers’ experience with your product or service says a lot about your reputation and brand. A big part of branding comes down to how we do what we do and what your past buyers think of the value they received in the process. Referrals are a great way to do business at a low cost. To build your referral business, your buyers or clients need to be left with a lasting positive impression.
